Garbo Negre - Espagne
2014 was an atypical year in the area, notably for the abundant rain and the cool temperatures during the ripening season.
The strange, unpredictable weather at the beginning of autumn, epitomised by period of rain and relatively high humidity made us decide to bring forward the final phases of the harvest in order to keep the grapes healthy. We also intensified our selection of grapes in the vineyard for the same reason.
Following a rigorous selection process in the vineyard, the grapes were destalked and crushed and then fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures.
Fermentation was managed with the objective of creating a particularly fresh, fruity wine, both of which attributes characterised this vintage in the area. Maceration lasted 12 days, and the wine was then aged 5 months in third year French and American oak barrels.
Star bright cherry red.
Intense, with many nuances. Red fruits predominate, accompanied by toasty notes, roast coffee beans, vanilla and some neat minerality.
Particularly lively on the palate, full of flavour and well structured; soft, approachable tannins, with a good depth of fruit on the finish.
Total acidity : 5,2 g/L
Residual sugar : 0,21 g/L
