Château La Fréneraie

A nod to our Spanish "roots"
YVON MAU has been bringing its expertise to bear in Bordeaux since 1897.
The creation of "Château La Fréneraie" today is a "heartfelt" gesture to Freixenet, the group's mother company and the world's 9th largest vintner group.

The birth of a vintage
Château La Fréneraie is a reference to the origins of Freixenet. It all started in the 19th century in Catalonia on the sunny, family-run estate of La Freixeneda, which is the Catalan word for "Ash Grove" (Frêneraie in French). The location, surrounded by ash trees and oaks, lent itself to the production of "warm" wines and tastings combined with conviviality.

Today the Château La Fréneraie vineyard, cosseted by Yvon Mau since the 1980s, has given birth to a vintage inherited from our Spanish roots.

Tasting notes

Appearance: bright, intense purple
Bouquet: refined and generous, with wild berries, vanilla and liquorice.
On the second nose, the redcurrant and blackberry notes take on hints of confit orange zest.
Palate: A full-bodied, balanced attack. Ripe, elegant, and generous fruit notes (plum, Morello cherry). A long finish with toasted notes.

Serving suggestion

Château La Fréneraie 2015 is both generous and elegant. It will go perfectly with traditional dishes such as pigeon or rabbit stew.
